Syndication & canonical policy

This page is our public publishing principles for reprints, syndication, and machine-readable citation. It is linked from Organization JSON-LD as publishingPrinciples.

Canonical URL

Every story has exactly one canonical URL on https://www.thefrontier.dev/articles/{slug}. Apex requests redirect to www. If you syndicate or excerpt a piece, keep that URL as the canonical — do not invent a second “home” for the story.

Reprint

Full text may be reprinted with canonical link and byline.

• Keep the byline and publication date intact.
• Link the headline (or a clear “Originally published” line) to the canonical on The Frontier.
• Do not strip the TLDR or first-paragraph claim when excerpting for answer engines or newsletters — that is the citeable extract.
• Commercial redistribution of substantial body text still requires permission — see the Terms of Use.

Soft paywall

Headline, standfirst (dek), metadata, and TLDR are always free. The full body is metered for guests and free accounts. Schema marks free vs gated parts accordingly so crawlers can cite the public extract without implying the archive is fully open.

Sources

Named sources on a story are emitted in NewsArticle JSON-LD as citation when URLs are present. Prefer primary documents over secondary recaps.
