Privacy Policy

The Frontier (“we”, “us”) is an independent digital publication. This policy explains what information we process when you read the site, create an account, or become a member.

Information we collect

• Account data — email address and authentication credentials (or provider tokens when using Supabase Auth).
• Membership & billing — plan tier and billing customer/subscription identifiers. Payment card details are processed by we do not store full card numbers.
• Reading meter — which articles you unlocked in the current UTC calendar day (signed cookie for guests; account records when signed in).
• Weekly brief — the email address you submit on the subscribe form. Delivery runs through Beehiiv when configured; we also keep a local signup record for attribution. We do not rent or sell the list. Beehiiv's processing is covered by their privacy policy when that integration is active.
• Technical logs — standard server logs (IP, user agent, timestamps) for security and reliability.
• Performance & usage analytics — anonymous Core Web Vitals and aggregated page-view metrics via Vercel Speed Insights and Vercel Web Analytics. These are not used to identify you or rebuild a browsing session across pages.

How we use information

We use this data to operate the publication, enforce the free-article allotment, provide membership benefits, send the weekly brief if you asked for it, prevent abuse, and improve the product. We do not sell personal information.

Cookies

We use essential cookies for sessions and the anonymous reading meter. These are required for the service to function as described. Vercel Speed Insights and Web Analytics do not rely on advertising cookies for the metrics we collect.

Retention

Account and membership records are kept while your account is active. Meter records rotate by calendar day. You may request deletion of your account by contacting us (see Contact).

Processors

Depending on configuration, we may use hosting providers (including Vercel), Convex (data and authentication), Beehiiv (newsletter delivery when enabled), and infrastructure such as Cloudflare for delivery. Vercel also processes anonymous performance and analytics events for Speed Insights and Web Analytics under their terms. Each processes data under their own terms.
