Oracle wants ChatGPT to feel like a front door onto its application suite. OpenAI wants Oracle's procurement motion as a distribution channel.
On 27 October 2026 OpenAI posted an expansion of the partnership that runs in both directions: Oracle apps and data into ChatGPT, and OpenAI models into Oracle-branded offerings sold through Oracle Marketplace.

OpenAI and Oracle said they are bringing Oracle applications and data into ChatGPT and powering new Oracle products with OpenAI models. The post builds on an existing commercial relationship across the OpenAI API, ChatGPT Work, and Codex. Oracle reported 130,000 active ChatGPT users and more than 95,000 active Codex users; a recruiting-team anecdote says market research that once took two to four days now takes 15-20 minutes of preparation.
Oracle AI Workspace is in development to let people describe work, pull information, and complete approved business workflows inside ChatGPT under each organisation's permissions and approvals. The example journey is a new finance hire investigating costs and month-end close across finance, procurement, and planning apps.
Oracle AI Security Mesh is designed to help customers find and fix vulnerabilities in applications and infrastructure using OpenAI cyber models, with Oracle managing testing infrastructure inside authorised scope. Oracle AI SMB Bundle combines ChatGPT Business and Codex with Oracle applications and recurring OCI credits. Oracle App Composer is designed so teams can build apps with Codex and other AI tools, connect them to approved Oracle data and workflows, and share them with company permissions, with deployment managed on OCI.
US Oracle customers can purchase access to the OpenAI API, Codex, and ChatGPT Work through Oracle Marketplace using existing procurement processes and eligible Oracle Universal Credits.
OpenAI and Oracle share the commercial surface; customers keep their IAM
OpenAI and Oracle shipped the partnership announcement. Oracle owns AI Workspace, Security Mesh, SMB Bundle, and App Composer as product names on its side. Enterprise customers remain bound by their own permissions, approvals, and Marketplace purchasing rules. OpenAI API and ChatGPT Work buyers outside Oracle procurement are unaffected unless they choose the Marketplace path.

What is new on 27 October is the dated packaging: Oracle application workflows aimed inside ChatGPT via AI Workspace, OpenAI cyber models wrapped as Oracle AI Security Mesh, an SMB bundle with OCI credits, App Composer on OCI, and Universal Credits purchasing for API/Codex/ChatGPT Work in the US Marketplace.
That is an enterprise distribution and packaging story. It is thinner as a model or eval release than Genie-class research posts in the same window; the technical hook worth watching is Security Mesh's authorised use of OpenAI cyber models under Oracle-managed test infrastructure.

Procurement and security should open Marketplace and Mesh scopes first
Oracle-shopping enterprises that already pay in Universal Credits should price API, Codex, and ChatGPT Work on Marketplace before opening a second OpenAI vendor record. Security teams evaluating AI Security Mesh should demand the authorised-scope and data-handling terms for OpenAI cyber models before enabling scans against production. Application owners curious about AI Workspace should treat the finance example as intent until GA surfaces land in their tenancy.
