No Siri AI on EU iPhone this release. Apple's 8 June 2026 newsroom post opened developer testing the same day. A second post, same day, says Digital Markets Act conditions mean iOS 27 and iPadOS 27 in the EU ship without it. Watch follows the phone. Mac and Vision still get it.

The news

The Apple Newsroom press release dated 8 June 2026, Cupertino, states: "Apple today introduced Siri AI, an entirely new version of Siri, powered by Apple Intelligence." It describes a conversational assistant with personal context understanding, broad world knowledge, and onscreen awareness, a dedicated app to revisit conversations, expanded Visual Intelligence, and integrated writing tools. "These features are available for developer testing starting today, and will be available as a beta to users later this year."

Craig Federighi, Apple's senior vice president of Software Engineering, is quoted: "We're excited to introduce Siri AI, a dramatically more capable and conversational assistant designed to help users find information and get things done throughout the day."

The architecture section says Siri AI uses next-generation Apple Foundation Models that run on device and on servers using Private Cloud Compute. "When Private Cloud Compute is handling users' requests, their personal data is not stored nor made accessible to Apple or anyone else." The orchestrator, Spotlight index, and App Toolbox "work entirely on device," the post states. Those are Apple's privacy claims.

A same-day Newsroom update, "Due to DMA, Siri AI delayed in EU for iOS 27 and iPadOS 27," states Apple will not be able to ship Siri AI in the European Union with iOS 27 and iPadOS 27. Federighi: "We're deeply disappointed that our EU users won't have Siri AI on iPhone or iPad when we share our new software releases later this year." The update says EU users will not get the dedicated app, expanded Visual Intelligence, writing tools, Siri mode in Camera on iOS, or other Siri AI capabilities announced at WWDC26 on those phone and tablet releases. Because watchOS 27 Siri AI requires a paired iPhone with Siri AI, EU users will not have Siri AI on watchOS 27. EU users will be able to access Siri AI on macOS 27 and visionOS 27. Developers located in the EU will not be able to test or use the new Siri AI features for their apps on iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and watchOS 27.

Apple's DMA account: regulators' interpretation would require giving any virtual assistant "direct access to users' private data" and the ability to control other apps; Apple proposed a Trusted System Agent intermediary and an 18-month rollout; "The European Commission said no." That is Apple's statement. The Commission's own letter is not on this Newsroom page.

Who is bound

Apple shipped the software announcement and the DMA delay. Bound for developer testing are registered Apple developers outside the EU iOS/iPadOS restriction. EU-located developers are bound by the test ban on those three platforms. EU iPhone, iPad, and Watch users are bound to wait. Mac and Vision Pro users in the EU are on a different path. The European Commission is the counterparty in Apple's telling.

What's new

Siri is being rebuilt as Siri AI with a dedicated app, Visual Intelligence beyond iPhone, and writing tools, on a developer seed dated 8 June 2026. The operator constraint that is not a demo is the EU split: Mac and Vision yes; iPhone, iPad, Watch no, with no timeline on the Newsroom update.

What it does not settle

Date: 8 June 2026. Developer testing: that day. User beta: "later this year." Month UNKNOWN. Region: EU iOS/iPadOS/watchOS withheld; macOS 27 and visionOS 27 in the EU still planned. Hardware: products that "support Apple's most advanced on-device model" get extra voice and dictation features; SKU list UNKNOWN from the truncated availability block. Price: none. Data: personal context from messages, email, photos as described; PCC non-storage is Apple's claim. License: Apple OS terms.

What to do now

EU product managers should not put iPhone Siri AI in a 2026 H2 launch brief. EU iOS developers should not schedule WWDC Siri AI APIs for App Store EU builds this cycle.

The user-beta calendar month is UNKNOWN.
